My Story
My love of animals began when I was just a little girl. I was always bringing home stray dogs and cats. I also aspired to be a veterinarian. My parents hoped I would outgrow this childhood obsession, but I didn’t. They appeased me with dogs, cats, horses, fish, and even a goat!
Upon the death of my childhood pet, Peppi- a silver toy poodle of 22 years, I began my search for the ideal family companion. My quest ended when I discovered the Havanese. They are my perfect dog, because they are small, child-loving, non-shedding, longhaired, intelligent, elegant, and devoted to their “family.”
Smallhaven’s Oreo was my first Havanese. At the time, I had no plans to show or breed. A few years later, my plans changed. The birth of Signature Havanese resulted from the introduction to the wonderful sport of showing dogs. It has been a continual learning experience that has brought me more pleasure than I ever imagined! If you’re in the Atlanta area, look for me at the any of the local dog shows and introduce yourself. I’m usually there even if I’m not showing.
